Time: Somewhere around 2075 AD , sometime on Tuesday.
Sam in the lab coat was looking at the pipette, then at the flask before him , waiting for reaction to happen. Sweat was drifting in his hand. He took the handkerchief to remove the sweat, so it doesn't interfere with his chemical experiment. Least he wanted now is interference by his own sweat. He would have swore that a drop of his sweat dropped on the flask an hour ago or just his paranoia. His flash has not changed colour from white. However he knew better that the chemical tangent indicator of the rate of reaction for this specific chemical experiment is skewed.
The chemical reaction is slower at the initial stages of the reaction thus lower tangent value, however as the experiment progresses, tangent slowly increases. This leads to more reactions in later stages of the experiment. Thus one wrongly added chemical will not bring adverse chemical reaction earlier but later when it's too late to take any corrective measures. There are exceptions to this rule. No Chemical reaction for a long time also means a disaster is waiting to happen , the chemical being made will give disastrous consequences or worse will lead to the unthinkable far worse than death.
The flask just sat on the table , its chemical as transparent as ever , while he had a handkerchief in one hand and pipette in his other hand. The pipette had one drop of the vital chemical to be added to the flask. Sam took the pipette and added the chemical to the flask. It took 5 minutes to bring the pipette near the flask. An even more painstaking time to release that single drop into that flask and eternity for the drop to reach the bottom of the flask. The drop dissolved in the chemical in the flask.
Sam did not react first, but he shouted “NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO” , the flask vibrated , rose in the lab and exploded. He would see the changes in the colour of the chemical before it exploded. Sam froze in shock to be drenched in the chemical. After a horrific amount of time, the whole lab exploded . It shocked the entire city located nearby.
Location : Atlanta City
Time: Somewhere around 2075 AD , next day morning on Wednesday
Sublocation: The police station
Inspector and Sub inspector are in the serious discussion in the Inspector’s cabin , when a constable entered the room
Constable saluted them
Constable : “Jai Hind Sahib. A report has come that people felt an explosion happen from that old factory”
Sub Inspector :” This is usual Wednesday here or should I say Tuesday. “
Inspector : “Anything unusual other than our usual Wednesdays & Tuesdays”
Constable : “I saw the factory from the distance, there seems to be a violent explosion, the whole place is in shambles and smoke is coming out and “ He paused before continuing “there is no other noise coming from the factory.”
Just then the phone rang ,and the Inspector received the call. His face went serious. He turned to his colleagues “The old factory seemed to be used as an Laboratory by an ex-scientist. The explosion may be the result of a dangerous illegal experiment. The scientist from capital city are coming soon to deal with the situation”
Sub Inspector : “Who would be the bearer of that Good news”
Inspector : “Some official from the Capital City.”
Constable : “How much time do we have before the city burns down?”
Inspector : “Raghu sahib don't be ridiculous. The city is not going to burn down.”
Sub Inspector :”Raghu sahib is correct. No Government official is that forthcoming with information without being asked. The situation must be grim. We asked about the factory before, but they were not forthcoming.”
Inspector accepted this fact with little dejection : “If the dangerous illegal experiment is being conducted, why not stop it before it resulted in explosion. “
Sub Inspector: “Sahib , when a similar accident happened 10 years ago, a chemical which entered the city almost killed 2 and led to hospitalisation of hundreds of people. The scientist from the capital city said, 'if a different chemical had escaped from the lab , it would have killed all in the city.' Thus the lab was closed down by the government. We still don't know who conducted the experiment now or then. Hope it doesn't happen like before or worse. Why would someone want to turn a Factory into a lab and do dangerous experiments? They have established the lab twice in the same place, must be important experiments to risks life or the place is carry out dangerous experiments.”
Constable : “Sahib , the smoke is coming out of the factory, but it's just vanishing in the sky. No one is feeling nausea or sickness as they are not affected by the smoke. People only heard the noise but no one saw the smoke or anything strange. In Fact i had to travel to the outskirts of the city, in a hill nearly 2 kms from the factory to see the smoke. What does it mean. Are we all safe? Why is the capital city worried about an explosion that may not harm? How did they know about the explosion so soon? “
Sub Inspector : “Did the government official say anything in particular? How was his tone?”
Inspector jolted as he woke the inner detective that said government officials spoke more like a scientist than an government official.
Inspector : “The explosion is far worse than we would imagine, the official may be acting on his own and found out about the explosion by some other means. Hope the scientists who come here help us solve the crisis. The worst thing is the Government official , who phoned me knows more than he is letting us know. Was he expecting any explosion to happen in the factory? Did he know about the experiment? How did he find out about the explosion in the factory? We don't know about these things. However explosions are least of our concerns, if the tone of the message is of any indication. I guess we can expect one person to come for our help, it might be the same person who phoned us.”
As he was saying this , the sound of the helicopter would be heard. Inspector, Sub Inspector and constable saw that a Bulky man entered the Inspector’s room and closed the door behind him.
Bulky man in blue coat : “We spoke to the Phone Inspector Ram , Sub Inspector Lakshman and Constable Raghu. I am here to help you. The situation is much worse than you can imagine. We can't leave this building,until we resolve ‘THE ISSUE’” Sub Inspector and Constable looked at the Inspector with admiration.
All the three knew that the person who just came in the helicopter was not a Government official from the capital city. As the Atlanta City is inside a bubble, no one can enter by air and no Government official calls you by name or designation or both. They call you by a number and expect to be addressed by another number, assigned to each individual. However people can call each other by name but just not the Government officials.
Bulky man in blue coat :”You can call me Hanumath. Ofcourse i am not a Government official. I am here to solve the crisis. Before any more questions,please read the cover.“
He handed a cover to each one of them. As they read it, they realised not only them but also the Bulky man in blue coat may not know what happened in the factory, as the paper inside the cover was just blank.
